Jake & Warren Oldershaw Present
The Head Gardner Untied Artists

Brothers Jake and Warren Oldershaw have propagated a delightful theatre show that digs deep into the reasons why we could all do with a bit more horticulture in our lives.

After growing up on the rural Isle of Wight, Jake made a career out of ’showing off’ and Warren ended up with a nice (proper) job, designing and looking after gardens. But it hasn’t always been easy. As we all know - there are sunny days, and there are days when it feels like you really shouldn’t have got out of bed.

During the show they tell personal tales of why gardening is so important for mental health; design, draught and bring to life a unique and beautiful garden; share fascinating stories of different projects, plants and species; and even throw a few songs into the mix.

Lightpost Artists Present
Lightpost Films in the Cinema

A cocreated film made by Birmingham Rep’s Lightpost artists, CJ Webley and Mathias Andre with film maker, Idriss Assoumanou and participants from Erdington (supported by BSMHFT and Mind). The Depths of Healing is a dramatic exploration of the human psyche, following the story of a patient struggling with their sense of self and trauma. Despite seeing a therapist for years, they feel trapped in their own mind, unable to express their true feelings and thoughts. They long to escape the noise of their loneliness and the echoes of trauma that continue to haunt them.

One day they discover an experimental kind of therapy that allows them to enter alternate worlds within their mind. As they delve deeper into these worlds, becoming steadily convinced of their reality, the therapist becomes increasingly concerned about their mental state. Eventually they realise that the only means of true healing is to find a way of coping in the real world, learning new methods of coping and slowly beginning to build a new sense of self and understanding of their past.
