1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem each year. In England, 1 in 6 people experience a common mental health problem (such as anxiety or depression) each week. So whether you’ve experienced this, or know someone who has, you’re not alone. It’s vital to share your stories – and taking part in the arts is a natural way to do so.
BEDLAM is an arts and wellbeing partnership, presenting a diverse programme of visual arts, film, spoken word, dance, music, theatre and live performance. Through festivals, workshops and projects with different communities, BEDLAM raises awareness of mental health and wellbeing recovery through the arts. In April 2024, the BEDLAM partnership were awarded £196,180 from the Inclusive Communities Fund to deliver the 2024 Arts and Mental Health programme. The BEDLAM Partnership comprises of Sampad, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Midlands Arts Centre and The Red Earth Collective. The funding received from The Inclusive Communities Fund will increase creative opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds by involving all segments of society – community members, families, carers, individuals with lived experiences, mental health professionals, and creative practitioners. Whatever your age or background, there’s something for everyone. Follow the conversation online @BEDLAM_festival |
